PAINTING RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION SERVICES
BASED IN SCOTLAND
ABOUT
Annie Cornwell is a qualified painting's conservator, having gained a Postgraduate Diploma in the Conservation of Easel Paintings from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. In addition to her training at the Courtauld she has worked for numerous art institutions, including: the Yale Center for British Art, The National Trust, Royal Museums Greenwich, Westminster Palaces, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Guildhall Art Gallery in London and The Hunterian Museum in Glasgow. She has recently started work as a freelance painting conservator based in the north of Scotland.
Annie has specialised knowledge in the treatment of 18th and 19th century British art, in particular the works of British animal-painter George Stubbs. She spent two years researching and developing new methods of cleaning his paintings, which are often sensitive to traditional restoration techniques.
Outwith her practical conservation, Annie also has experience lecturing and leading workshops on both conservation and technical art history. She has lectured at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Yale University, Glasgow University and was a workshop leader at the Summer Institute for Technical Art History.
